Granite Studio might be moving. I’m exploring a few options, including my own domain name as well as possibly making the jump to Typepad. Nothing has been done yet, but check this space for a updates.
That’s right, the Great Fire Wall is at it again. Nothing makes the CCP look more like a scared bunch of ninnies than their attempts to “harmonize society” by blocking the navel gazing and restaurant reviews of the world. I mean Jeeeeessuuuuuuus. Is China so unstable that pictures of Hazel and Merle’s “fabulous Hawaiian vacation” are going to topple the regime? Please.
Suggestions for hosting, etc. would not be unwelcome.

Typepad has been blocked in the past too. Keep Chris Waugh’s recent experience in mind.

You’re best bet is to just setup your own site instead of trying to use a blog service. You’ll have more freedom to do what you want on your site and you won’t be under threat of being banned because of somebody else.
Most services like dreamhost dot com (I’ll probably be moving xiaoniu.org to them soon) offer one click installers for WordPress (blog software) so you don’t need to be a technie to get up and running. Moving all your old posts and comments out of blogger to WP might take some effort, but there probably is a way to do it. You can’t be the first to move.

Supposedly Wordpress has a way of importing all your old blogger archives and comments into its system, whether on their free hosting (blocked for now) or on your own domain. I haven’t tried this, though, but I’m in the process of doing the same thing, so I’ll let you know.
