Back from Summer Break

August 30th, 2007 · 3 Comments

After a brief holiday for the month of August, The Studio is set to reopen for the academic year. Despite the notion of a “summer break,” it’s been quite a busy month here. We’ve had two houseguests, a ton of translations, a new teaching job, as well as planning a wedding for next Saturday.

Good to see that things are back up and running…saw on Xin Lang that Beijing instituted a week-long driving plan (driving privileges were based on license plate numbers)in preparation for the Olympics. In your estimation, was there any discernible difference in the number of cars on the road? If so, they should seriously considering putting such plan in force full time. I know Seoul had a similar policy in place for a while, with supposedly good results…

Good luck on the wedding next weekend. I got married in Tianjin at Li Shun De on the first of the month and it was a blast. Nothing like a Chinese wedding for having a action-packed party. Watch out for the after-wedding hijinks at your apartment, prepare to be humiliated. Practice making pig noises and you’ll be the hit of the party.
