18-1

So…the Patriots lost. Proof–if such was necessary–that betting against the I-Ching is just not the best of ideas. Nevertheless, it was an excellent game watched in good company,* and Tim of Texas Tim’s proved a congenial host.

And hey, 18-1 ain’t too shabby. Now, I will go and repeat that line over and over to myself until I start believing it just a little.

*That said, I’m not sure that 100 screaming NFL fans at 7 in the morning was precisely the environment that Froog, given his druthers, would have chosen as optimal to soothing a Monday morning hangover bout of malaria. But such is.

  • dude. they were about to make history!
    its NOT ok.

  • Eric,

I’m with you. I actually ended the original post with “I will now light myself on fire,” but didn’t want to rip off Bill Simmons too badly.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck on your new blog.

  • I can’t imagine a better way to spend a Monday morning – particularly a Monday morning at the start of a week where I have NO WORK.

I may have been a little subdued owing to having had only about 15 hours sleep in the last four days and suffering an embarrassing dose of Shihuangdi’s Revenge, but I do NOT get hangovers.

And I confess to a dismal ignorance of the great game, but I thought they were 18-1.

The I Ching is a powerful force….now, if we can just work on that Red Sox problem….

  • Froog makes a fair point. It’s once been said of the man that Froog doesn’t get hangovers, he gives them.

And yes, 18-1. This is why I teach history not math. and I have a feeling these numbers will take on a life of their own in the NY-BOS rivalry much as “1918″ once did.

  • Sam,

Haven’t the cosmos messed with the Red Sox enough?
