Nine Dragons Waterfall (Dehang, Hunan) Dehang was one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited in China. After taking this picture we hiked up and underneath the falls - a very wet but rewarding experience. And yes, that is your correspondent standing in the foreground. Picture taken August, 2009.

Was it very touristy? Doesn’t look so in the picture.
I mean, was it absolutely packed with people?
Not when we were there. Unlike nearby Fenghuang, which is completely overrun with Chinese yuppies, Dehang is still relatively quiet. That said, the number of guesthouses being built suggests this time of tranquility may be near an end.
