The shrill bleating of the over-adrenalized and under-sexed, the hysterical fear of the camera, the bad haircuts and worse wardrobes…no, not the finale of American Idol, just another day with the forces of insecurity in the PRC.
It’s pretty funny, and I’m posting it here for a bit of a laugh but there is perhaps a point to be made.
I’m sure every journalist in China has at some time wanted to do this. YJ tells stories of these guys from her days being chased through the hinterlands of Henan and around monasteries in Qinghai. But this isn’t just about press freedom. Look at the outrage and fear on the faces of the thugs when the tables have been turned. The state and its agents in China operate with such a sense of entitlement that when caught in a situation that they can’t control, they howl in impotent rage like gelded gibbons and slap at the cameras like little girls.
State security in China (at all levels) operates on a bully mentality: brutalize those you can, and demonize those you can’t. This video is just another sad example of the government and its stake holders’ obsession with ‘stability maintenance’ at the expense of almost all else.
