Lakes and canals of historic Haidian

We look at the Old Summer Palace in Beijing’s Haidian District. Today the grounds form an extensive park but in earlier days before the terrible destruction of 1860 it was part of a much larger complex of gardens that included the New Summer Palace and areas today now part of the campuses of Beijing and Tsinghua Universities.
